Our Youth Need Truth
Published by anonymous April 30th, 2009 in AbstinenceNot long ago, Beth Bruce(The Sex Lady) wrote a blog entitled “Our Youth Need Truth!!!” in it she tells how she traveled to Harrisburg, PA, to lobby for two acts regarding comprehensive sex education.
The first proposed act is the Healthy Youth Act, which would expand HIV / AIDS education to include education and awareness of sexually transmitted infections as well as birth control methods (comprehensive sex education). The second act is the Notice Home Act which requires a notification to be sent home to students’ parents/guardians should an abstinence-only curriculum, assembly, activity, etc. be scheduled at their school. Parents that are against abstinence only education can then opt their child out of the program.
The only statement after this introduction that makes perfect sense is “I, along with every other sexuality educator, physician, and logical person, know that abstinence is the only 100% way to prevent pregnancy and the transmission of sexually transmitted infections.” Why do you think we teach it? Why would you not want FACT given to every student in the United States?
STD’s are at epidemic proportions in this world; many of them are incurable and some are life threatening. One of the major ways to reverse this is by teens and adults practicing abstinence until marriage.
