I just read a report from CWA that this year alone, 15.3 MILLION Americans will contract a NEW sexually transmitted disease.  2-4 MILLION of those will be teenagers!  That means that every day, 8,000 teens contract a NEW STD.  Not to mention any they already had.

Hello?!?!  And what do our states, governments and health centers do about it?  GIVE OUT MORE CONDOMS!

Apparently, condoms are the answer to everything.  But condoms don’t protct against all STDs.  In fact, HPV is the most rapidly growing STD, and you are not protected from getting it by using a condom.  Syphilis is also spread through skin to skin contact, what’s protecting them from that?

Our reliance on condoms has helped spread disease.  By pushing condoms, we give false hope to those engaging in premarital sex that “everything will be okay.”  In fact, it’s not okay; Herpes among caucasian teens has jumped 500% in the last 20 years; one in five children over age 12 tests positive for Herpes type 2, which has no cure; almost 50% of african american teens have genital herpes, no cure; half of all newly diagnosed chlamydia cases are girls 15-19.

So, what can we do to stop this epidemic?  How about this revolutionary idea?  Let’s encourage teens to wait.  WOW!  What a concept!
