Thank you Joanna Repsold for Standing Up For Our Kids!
Published by anonymous March 20th, 2009 in "Comprehensive" Sex Ed, Abstinence, Media Bits, The CultureA HUGE thanks from parents all over the country goes out to Joanna Respold who in her blog entry of 1/23/09 stood up to Henry Waxman and his sexualization of the children of America. It’s awesome to see a young lady who seems to have it all together get up and tell the World that just because you’re abstinent, doesn’t mean you have your head in the sand.
In a world where children are being taught as young as 5 and 6 that it’s okay to masturbate, is it any wonder why our kids grow up to be sexually active teens? Contraceptive sex education is true ignorance, it is not teaching our kids today that they have self - worth and that they don’t have to have sex.
Abstinence education is not a “just say no” message like Nancy Reagan launched in the 1980’s for drugs; it goes far beyond that. It teaches character, trust, respect, self worth and self esteem. It also teaches how to avoid situations that may lead to premarital sex.
What’s so wrong with teaching kids to stay away from high risk behaviors? We tell them not to drink, not to do drugs, but tell them that sex is okay as long as you have a condom or are on birth control.
Thank you Joanna for standing in the gap for your generation and the generations to come.
