Isn’t Love Just Sweet?!

taste like chalk, but still a crowd favorite

I love Love. Cheesy, I know…but perhaps my overindulgence of Valentines Day candies this week have aided in my recent melancholy feelings that have been consuming my thoughts as of late.

While there are many different levels and categories of love, the one that fascinates me the most is the kind of love that makes life really worth living.

I’m sure you can relate. You know you’ve found someone special when the mere thought of them makes you excited to wake up in the morning, even if it’s a grueling 5:30 am. You walk to work with a little bounce in your step, and you find yourself smiling and saying “Hello!” to everyone you pass by. You love every moment with this person and you just can’t get enough of them. Even the idea of spending all weekend together cleaning the house sounds appealing because you know you wont be without the one you love. Your heart skips a beat merely from seeing their name pop up on your cell phone when they call.

We yearn for that kind of excited love, where you feel as if your world is perfect and nothing could ever go wrong. I think that kind of love doesn’t come around too often, but when it does, you never want to let it go. They have become a part of you, and you just can’t imagine living your life without them.

While this kind of love often lifts us up into oblivion, we are grounded enough to recognize the amazing principle of abstinence. Abstinence, in my opinion, is the true epitome of love. Saving sex for marriage is romantic love, love that waits and is patient and a relationship that is based on respect for each other. It’s easy to show love on the outside… but true love that comes from within is unshakable and lasting.

We know that living sexually promiscuous lives only leads to heartache, anger, and sorrow. Sure it may be enjoyable at the time, but “love” that is based only on physical intimacy is bound to self-destruct.

From all of us here at the Abstinence Clearinghouse, we thank you for your commitment in teaching today’s youth about what true love really is. You’re changing lives and shaping the future. And for that, we truly love you.

Happy Valentines Day.
