Planned Parenthood teaching abstinence is like OJ Simpson teaching Anger Management!

You can call them gluttons for punishment. They’ve begun calling themselves that.

After no children or parents showed for Planned Parenthood of West Texas’ Real Life. Real Talk. sex education session in August, organization officials rescheduled the workshop for Tuesday night at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest at South 6th and Meander streets.

This time, after four teachers and a program director drove two hours from Midland, one girl attended.

“She’ll be one of the best educated young women in the community after tonight,” said Carla Holeva, vice president of community affairs for Planned Parenthood of West Texas.

The workshop presents medically accurate sexual education, Holeva has said, teaching fifth- through eighth-grade students that abstinence is the only foolproof method for avoiding sexually transmitted disease or pregnancy. But Planned Parenthood officials are realistic, she said, and teach students the facts about contraception and anatomy.

“We’ll keep trying to get more experience with the community,” said Jose Gonzales, an accountant for Planned Parenthood who volunteered to teach in Abilene. “Even if one girl gets the information, it could make a difference in her life.”

Holeva said the organization has received a great deal of community support, and she would keep trying to schedule the workshops on different days, times and locations. Planned Parenthood has led the classes in Pecos, San Angelo and Midland in the past few years, and most workshops get off to a slow start.

Undeterred, Holeva said all communities need the information taught in the workshop.

“We’re going to keep doing it,” she said. “We’re going to have a lot more conversations in the community about this.”

 

Planned Parenthood Teaches Abstinence

Well, that is what the article claims.

“The workshop presents medically accurate sexual education, Holeva has said, teaching fifth- through eighth-grade students that abstinence is the only foolproof method for avoiding sexually transmitted disease or pregnancy.”

Why, of course they teach abstinence! That is why their profits are so low, only $55.8 million last year. Do you really think that the largest abortion provider in the United States, making that kind of money, teaches abstinence?

Let’s look at the rest of the story.

Oh, I see. We must be “realistic” and accept that human beings are no more than animals. Look, you can be realistic and teach contraception, I’ve got no problem with that and wish that parents would teach their children about it. But, I’m not living in a fantasy land and realize that a lot of parents don’t even bother to say hello to their kids each day.

I just have my doubts about Planned Parenthood being the group to teach it. Think about it this way. If your profits are dependent upon a certain procedure, is the information you are going to provide about alternate methods going to be unbiased? I don’t think so.
