Even Allstate Insurance gets it, what’s wrong with everyone else?
Published by Jenny August 22nd, 2007 in Teenage and Child SexualityA new ad from Allstate insurance states, “Even bright, mature teenagers sometimes to things that are stupid. But when that happens, it’s not really thier fault. It’s because their brain hasn’t finished developing. The underdeveloped area is called the dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex. It plays a critical part role in decision making, problem solving and understanding future consequences of today’s actions. Problem is, it won’t be fully mature until they’re into their 20’s.”
The ad goes on to talk about why teens are involved in so many car crashes. However, it isn’t hard to see the direct corrleation to teen sex.
They don’t have the ability to see the consequences - premarital pregnancy, STDs, broken hearts and countless emotional side effects. Why wouldn’t we want to teach our children that driving without a license is hazardous, and so is having sex?
