Child Molestation: It’s Hilarious!
0 Comments Published by Hilary July 27th, 2007 in Adventures in Missing the Point, Teenage and Child Sexuality, The CultureThe Catholic League serves a purpose, but sometimes it doesn’t quite get it. In a July 24 news release the organization describes what it calls Jay Leno’s “obsession.” Apparently the Tonight Show host has ridiculed Catholic priests six times in the past five weeks. The jokes, as reported by the Catholic League, were:

The Abstinence Clearinghouse with Human Life
0 Comments Published by Hilary July 27th, 2007 in PotpourriSince conference ended I’ve been posting stories and blurbs about our various speakers and such. You can find that directory here.
The most recent addition is an interview I had the pleasure to conduct with Marie Larson of Human Life Alliance (HLA) about their new abstinence publication. You can read the interview here.
Last week I mentioned a new study stating that 1 in 25 online youth has been solicited for sexually explicit photographs. The story of the day seems almost a tailor made follow up. The North Carolina Attorney General’s office have revealed that there are 29,000 registered sex offenders with accounts on MySpace. These users have [...]
Oral Contraceptives
0 Comments Published by Hilary July 23rd, 2007 in Adventures in Missing the Point, Contraception: HormonalUnnecessary synthetic hormones don’t just affect a woman’s period.
Overall, more women will begin to experience migraines after starting oral contraception and this would indicate that there is probably a link between the two.
What is This “Condom” You Speak of?
0 Comments Published by Hilary July 20th, 2007 in Adventures in Missing the Point, Contraception: Prophylactics, HIV/AIDSI hope you remember the silliness in New York City of a couple months ago. City officials decided to release a new line of NYC subway-themed condoms “to help curb the spread of HIV.” Now remember this is sexually-repressed New York, the residents of which have probably never even heard of condoms, much less know [...]

0 Comments Published by Hilary July 19th, 2007 in Teenage and Child SexualityAssociated Press via CNN.com reports a troubling new study:
Four percent of American youths online have been asked to send a sexually explicit photo of themselves over the Internet, researchers say in a study.
Of the 65 youths in the study who reported receiving a request, only one actually complied. But researchers say that’s still a troubling [...]
PP: Reporting Child Abuse is Bad for Business
0 Comments Published by Hilary July 19th, 2007 in Planned ParenthoodDawn Eden highlights Planned Parenthood Golden Gate’s recent action item opposing an initiative that would require clinics to report child rape.
Philanthropic they are not.
This is a good bit of the NAC staff along with some friends at our 11th annual Abstinence Leadership Conference.
You’d Think They Would Care…
0 Comments Published by Hilary July 17th, 2007 in Adventures in Missing the Point, Contraception: Hormonal…but even environmentalists like their contraceptives.
The EPA has been finding intersex fish in Boulder (Colorado) Creek. The culprit? Synthetic hormones from contraceptives. Not that this is anything new, but what is frustrating is the inaction of environmental activists who spout the usual rhetoric. Said one Sierra Club representative, “For many people it’s an economic necessity. [...]
Dawn Patrol: Skin is Not In
0 Comments Published by Hilary July 17th, 2007 in Doings Elsewhere, The CultureThis is a few days old, but I’m way behind on my reading. From the Dawn Patrol:
A friend notes the following in a recent Philadelphia Inquirer article where a reporter quizzed men about their opinions on women’s fashions:
Anything too tight (cut down on the cleavage, girls) and lots of makeup made the list, too. But [...]
